Orin Sircey
Orin W. Sircey passed away peacefully at his home on December 6, 2023. He was born September 3, 1930 in Oteen to Joseph Herman Sircey and Theola Allman Sircey. He was 1949 graduate of Biltmore High School, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and a Blanton College graduate. He was a long time member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #70, V.F.W. Post #891, the Forty and Eight Society, and the Air Force Gunners Association.
Orin was a published poet, songwriter, and an award winning artist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theola Sircey, brothers Roy Sircey, Herman Sircey and James Sircey, sister, Barbara Lowman, as well as his beloved wife of 26 years, Patricia Rae Justice Sircey.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela and husband, Lane Pressley of Fletcher, son, Ronnie and wife, Samantha Sircey of Swannanoa, granddaughters, Jessica Frymyer of Mt. Ulla, NC and Janie Sircey of Vernon, CT, grandson, William Orin Barger of Hickory, NC, and a great grandson.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Grassy Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lonnie Ray officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow at Gashes Creek Cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
